Afghan National Army certifies mechanics in Helmand

HELMAND PROVINCE, AFGHANISTAN — Twenty-four soldiers joined the ranks of Afghan National Army mechanics after completing an eight week course here, March 13, 2017.

Iraqis Fight for Western Mosul in Tough Battle Against ISIS

WASHINGTON — A Pentagon spokesman said Iraqi security forces are battling Islamic State of Iraq and Syria fighters in western Mosul’s government center complex to liberate the country’s second-largest city from ISIS control.

Deployed military working dogs show-off skills

(UNDISCLOSED LOCATION) — The 332nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron military working dog section and Dutch coalition counterparts hosted a MWD demonstration on base. The event showcased MWD capabilities and the interoperability of coalition forces which are key elements to defeating ISIS.

Dunford: Americans Should Be Proud of Role U.S. Troops Play in Iraq, Syria

WASHINGTON — Indigenous Iraqi and Syrian forces have made tremendous progress taking the fight to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, and Americans should be proud of the role played in the effort by a small number of U.S. troops, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

Truxtun Aids Pakistani Navy Sailor

Soldiers help nurture horses to health

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait — Throughout man’s history of wars, conquests, travels and adventures, horses have been along each step of the way. To some, they are the symbols of emotional growth and healing; to others, they are equal partners in sports and recreations.

ISIS on Trajectory Toward Lasting Defeat, Defense Official Says

WASHINGTON — A defense official said despite a long road ahead for the U.S.-led coalition in its fight to counter the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, the enemy is being degraded by every measure and is on a trajectory to lasting defeat.

Lt. Col. Jose Lasso, Train, Advise, Assist Command-Air (TAAC-Air) deputy director of logistics, was welcomed by Afghan Air Force Brig. Gen. TAAC-Air Shindand visit leads to Afghan Air Force cost savings

KABUL, Afghanistan (AFNS) — Advisors with Train, Advise, Assist Command-Air traveled to Shindand Air Wing, Herat, Afghanistan, to meet with Afghan Air Force wing leaders on March 1, 2017.
