ISIS Hostage-Taking Caught on Video; Mosul Deaths Go To Formal Investigation

WASHINGTON — An Inherent Resolve spokesman said a formal investigation has begun into the March 17 deaths of civilians in western Mosul, Iraq, and will allow task force members to analyze other aspects of the case that have significant bearing, such as strike procedures and the impact of ISIS tactics.

CENTCOM Commander Briefs Congress on Regional Threats

WASHINGTON — Army Gen. Joseph Votel, the commander of U.S. Central Command, looked beyond the current conflicts in the greater Middle East and told the House Armed Services Committee that Iran is the greatest danger to peace in the region.

George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group Conducts OIR Missions Against ISIS

ARABIAN GULF (NNS) — The George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is currently launching missions against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) from the Arabian Gulf.

Care for the caregivers

TAJI, IRAQ — Military chaplains and their assistants provide spiritual support to Soldiers, both in a deployed environment and back at home. They are part of a support network for Soldiers going through a hard time or just needing someone to share their thoughts or concerns.

Task Force ODIN Transfer of Authority

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan — Task Force (TF) ODIN officially relinquished the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) mission for all U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan during a ceremony held here today, to TF Lightning – the 525th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade (E-MIB) from Fort Bragg, N.C.

Playing with fire: EOD technicians temper response skills

AL UDEID AIR BASE, QATAR — This is one scenario that members of the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Flight faced during exercise “Vigilant Walrus,” a four-day exercise that consisted of various scenarios that tested EOD members’ skill, knowledge and endurance.

Local Forces Launch Daring Assault Behind Enemy Lines in Syria

WASHINGTON — Local forces in Syria launched a multi-pronged offensive that included a daring air assault behind enemy lines to liberate Tabqa Dam, located 25 miles upstream from the city of Raqqa, an Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman said.

KABUL, Afghanistan (March 8, 2017) — A doctor walks the corridors of Kabul National Military Hospital as the facility undergoes repairs and improvements. The KNMH is primed to emerge from a recent tragic attack as a state-of-the-art facility for patient care, continuing a long legacy as the biggest and finest military hospital in service of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces. “No matter what happens and how we are tested, we stand next to our soldiers. This is our chance to improve this hospital and to deliver unprecedented capabilities for medical care. We are focused and determined. Our response is one, to take action,” said Dr. Hamid Rahman, director of the Construction Property Management Department at the Afghan Ministry of Defense. “We have high morale. Our soldiers have high morale. This is a better and stronger us.” On March 8, a group of terrorist gunmen disguised as doctors attacked the hospital, killing at least 49 patients, doctors and guards, and injuring more than 60 others.
