US Army Central inject experience at Eager Lion

JORDAN — Over a two-week period, U.S. Central Command service members and civilians, along with military forces from over 20 other nations, challenged multiple U.S. and Jordanian military organizations’ ability to respond to simulated tactical situations during exercise Eager Lion 2017.

KNMH repairs, upgrades near completion

KABUL, Afghanistan — Thirty days after an attack on patients and medical staff at Kabul National Medical Hospital, a majority of the reconstruction work is complete.

Dunford Arrives in Brussels for NATO Military Committee Meeting

SecDef Meets With UAE’s Crown Prince

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Jim Mattis met at the White House with United Arab Emirates Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan to discuss the U.S.-UAE defense partnership, the Pentagon’s chief spokesperson said in a statement.

Afghan wounded warriors head to Invictus Games Toronto 2017

KABUL, Afghanistan — With unbreakable spirits on full display, 51 wounded Afghan warriors participated in the final team selection trials here for the Invictus Games Toronto 2017.

Syria's Tabqa City Liberated, Key Development for Raqqa

WASHINGTON — Partnered forces in Syria have liberated the Syrian city of Tabqa, a key development in the eventual defeat of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria in Raqqa, Syria, the Pentagon's director of press operations said.

Commanding General visits troops, key leaders across Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Joseph Martin, the commanding general of Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command-Operation Inherent Resolve, the 1st Infantry Division, conducts battlefield circulations (BFCs) across Iraq to visit with Coalition service members and his Iraqi partners. "One hour of BFCs is worth ten hours of reports, briefings and e-mails," said Martin. "You see things with your own eyes. You get to interact with people. You get to influence people."

USS Devastator Sailor Makes Critical Repair on USS Dextrous

MANAMA, Bahrain — The U.S. Navy has 276 ships manned by the 322,390 active Sailors. The fleet includes 11 mine countermeasure ships (MCM), four of which are in Bahrain, each manned by approximately 90 Sailors. Of the 360 MCM Sailors in Bahrain, one was needed to make an urgent repair aboard USS Dextrous (MCM 13).

AMMAN, Jordan (May 7, 2017) Italian Airmen assigned to the 17th Special Operations Wing secure a landing pad during a fast roping exercise in Amman, Jordan during Eager Lion 2017. Eager Lion is an annual U.S. Central Command exercise in Jordan designed to strengthen military-to-military relationships between the U.S., Jordan and other international partners. This year's iteration is comprised of about 7,200 military personnel from more than 20 nations that will respond to scenarios involving border security, command and control, cyber defense and battlespace management.
