USS Laboon Visits Bahrain

MANAMA, Bahrain -- The guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) wrapped up a port visit to Manama, Bahrain, April 25. The port visit allowed Laboon to conduct maintenance, repair and upkeep as well as experience local culture in Bahrain.

Votel Discusses Key Role of Logistics in Spectrum of Conflict

WASHINGTON — The services have put a heavy demand on their logisticians over 15-plus years of conflict, and senior leaders must assess the impacts of that demand and make improvements over time, the commander of U.S. Central Command said.

BMX riders fly over Al Udeid

Air Force Reservists Serve in Afghanistan

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. — A group of Air Force reservists from Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, have deployed to Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan, to support the Afghan air force in its fight against insurgents in support of NATO’s Resolute Support mission.

U.S. Stands by Afghan People After Taliban’s Heinous Acts, Mattis Says

WASHINGTON — In Kabul, Afghanistan, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis had stern words for the recent Taliban attack on an Afghan military base and mosque, in which more than 100 people were killed.

Pentagon Spokesman Updates Iraq, Syria, Yemen Operations

WASHINGTON — A Pentagon spokesman said coalition and U.S. strikes continue to aid progress against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria in Iraq and Syria, and against al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula in Yemen.

Airmen share security skills with Saudi partners

ESKAN VILLAGE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — Airmen with the 879th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron conducted joint Ministry of Defense security training with members of the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Defense Military Police over the course of three weeks, culminating in an exercise.

Face of Defense: Lebanese-American Airman Gives Back

SOUTHWEST ASIA — Air Force Staff Sgt. Fadi Chreim, who grew up in Lebanon, joined the Air Force to give back to his adopted country. He is now deployed from Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida, to the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, where he is responsible for the logistics of moving people around base.

Mattis Reinforces U.S.-Qatari Strategic Partnership

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Jim Mattis met with Qatari leaders in Doha, to reinforce the importance of deepening the U.S.-Qatari strategic partnership. The discussions followed a March 27 meeting between the defense minister and Mattis at the Pentagon.
