Carter details U.S. strategy to accelerate ISIL’s defeat

Moves made last year in the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant have proved effective and U.S. officials have capitalized on that success to accelerate the counter-ISIL campaign, Defense Secretary Ash Carter told the Senate Armed Services Committee Thursday.

Dunford observes Iraqi armor exercises

Under a broiling sun, Iraqis of the 9th Armored Division await their turn to drop into the turrets of their T-72 training tanks and fire the coaxial machine guns.
