Air Defense Artillery Transfer of Authority Ceremony

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, AFGHANISTAN — The U.S. Army 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery (ADA) Regiment relinquished authority for the Counter Rocket, Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM) mission in Afghanistan to the 5th Battalion (BN), 5th ADA Regiment during a ceremony held here on Wednesday. U.S. Army Maj. Gen. John C. Thomson III, Bagram Airfield commander, presided over the transfer of mission.

Dunford, Turkish Leaders Create Long-term Plan Against ISIL in Raqqa

ANKARA, Turkey — Marine Corps Gen. Joe Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, met with his counterpart Turkish Army Gen. Hulusi Akar and hammered out a long-range plan for operations against ISIL in Syria.

Work Honors Exceptional DoD Employees at Pentagon Ceremony

'Steady Progress' As Some Iraqi Forces Reach Mosul, OIR Official Says

WASHINGTON — Iraqi security forces and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters are gaining ground in the battle for Mosul, with some forces reaching the northern Iraqi city, the spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve said today.

'Steady Progress' As Some Iraqi Forces Reach Mosul, OIR Official Says

WASHINGTON — A spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve said Iraqi forces and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters are gaining ground in the battle for Mosul, with some forces reaching the northern Iraqi city.

Soldiers from the Jordanian Army’s 29th Royal HIMARS Battalion and the U.S. Army’s 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment conduct a live-fire exercise October. The two nations continue to partner to ensure interoperability.

Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army partners with USARCENT units

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan — A cool, hazy morning greeted the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army as they welcomed Soldiers visiting from 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment for a live-fire exercise October 25-26, 2016, an event designed to build stronger bonds for the future. Despite differences in language and leadership styles, the two units were able to overcome these challenges through the use of translators and linguists while weeks of using their equipment together provided the right environment for the teams to overcome any technical differences.

Transregional Strikes Hit al-Qaida Leaders in Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan

WASHINGTON — Strikes in October against al-Qaida operatives in Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan show the transregional nature of both the terrorist group and the approach to countering them, Pentagon spokesman Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said today.

Harlem Hell Fighters assume command of Middle East mission

CAMP ARIFJAN, KUWAIT — The New York National Guard’s historic 369th Sustainment Brigade, famously known as the “Harlem Hell Fighters,” participated in a transfer of authority ceremony here on October 26, 2016 with the outgoing 17th Sustainment Brigade out of Las Vegas, Nevada.

USAF, RAAF accelerate fight against Da’esh

SOUTHWEST ASIA — As the fight against Da’esh continues, coalition forces strengthen interoperability at a rapid pace and accelerate the fight. The international relations between allied forces in support of the Mosul Offensive are proving to be essential in the success of Operation Inherent Resolve.

Strong partnership highlights cooperation for Mosul offensive

MAKHMOUR, Iraq – Key military leaders from the Iraqi Army, Counter Terrorism Service, Peshmerga forces and the Coalition addressed the media Nov. 1, 2016, during a joint press conference at the Ninawa Operations Complex in Makhmour, Iraq. The meeting validated the unprecedented cooperation between the Iraqi security forces and the Peshmerga as they work together to liberate villages along multiple axis for the Mosul offensive.
