Red Devil Justice Earns Distinction

Paralegals deployed to the Middle East in support of the United States Army Central (USARCENT) area of operations had the opportunity to compete in the United States Army Central 3rd Quarter Paralegal of the Quarter on June 13, 2020. Representing the 34th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade’s (ECAB) Red Devil Justice team, Spc. Cameron Kerkes won in the lower enlisted category. As a Paralegal Specialist for Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 2-147th Assault Helicopter Battalion, Kerkes competed against other junior enlisted personnel and noncommissioned officers with varying degrees of experience levels. His achievement is especially notable considering he recently graduated the paralegal advanced individual training in March of 2019.

Spartan Engineers Train to Clear Obstacles on the Battlefield

Operating breach vehicles with a hundred meters of C4 explosive is a rare opportunity in the world of engineers. Spartan Soldiers assigned to the North Carolina Army National Guard, 236th Brigade Engineer Battalion conducted breach training with an M1150 Assault Breacher Vehicle, equipped with a Mine Clearing Line Charge in the CENTCOM area of responsibility.

UAE and U. S. Forces Conduct Combined Joint Operations in Arabian Gulf

The United Arab Emirates Joint Aviation Command (JAC) conducted combined naval and air training operations with forces assigned to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) and U.S. Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT) in the southern Arabian Gulf, June 21-25. The Air Operations in Maritime Surface Warfare (AOMSW) training, consisted of a combination of aviation and surface assets tracking and engaging simulated fast attack craft. The expeditionary sea base USS Lewis B. Puller (ESB 3) served as an afloat staging platform for the UAE and U.S. aircraft.

Defeating Daesh Highlights of the Week July 1, 2020

Our partners in Iraq and Syria are leading the way to find and eliminate Daesh fighters and their finance, logistics, and media networks. “The pace of operations to defeat Daesh remnants remains steady across Iraq and eastern Syria,” said Col. Myles B. Caggins III, Coalition military spokesman. “The Coalition’s security partners are making ‘house calls’ at the caves and wadis where ISIS terrorist hide. And, at the request of the Government of Iraq, the Coalition blasted ISIS bed down locations with F-15E, F-16, AC-130 aircraft, and drones.”

With 161 Days Consecutively Operating At Sea, Dwight D. Eisenhower and San Jacinto Break U.S. Navy Record

As of June 25, 2020, the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike) and its escort ship, the guided-missile cruiser USS San Jacinto (CG 56), have been continuously at sea for 161 days, setting a new record for the U.S. Navy. Both ships departed their homeport of Norfolk, Va., on Jan. 17, for the strike group’s Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) and follow-on deployment to the U.S. 6th and 5th Fleet areas of operation.

Our partners in Iraq and Syria are leading the way to find and eliminate Daesh fighters and their finance, logistics, and media networks. “Heroes of Iraq Phase III continues to prove the Iraqi Security Forces superior capabilities against Daesh,” said Col. Myles B. Caggins III, Coalition military spokesman. “Troops from the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, and Intelligence services worked closely together for a successful mission to defeat Daesh in the rural land between Samarra and Kirkuk.”
