FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TAMPA, Fla. – U.S. Central Command conducted a humanitarian assistance airdrop into Northern Gaza on June 9, 2024, to provide essential relief to civilians in Gaza affected by the ongoing conflict.
The joint operation included one U.S. Air Force C-130 aircraft. The U.S. C-130 dropped more than 10 metric tons of Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), providing life-saving humanitarian assistance in Northern Gaza. To date the U.S. has airdropped more than 1,050 metric tons of humanitarian assistance in addition to the assistance delivered by the Joint Logistics Over the Sea (JLOTS) corridor.
The DoD humanitarian airdrops contribute to ongoing U.S. and partner-nation government efforts to alleviate human suffering. These airdrops are part of a sustained effort, and we continue to plan follow-on aerial deliveries.
