U.S. Strikes in Yemen Target al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula

WASHINGTON — U.S. forces conducted a series of precision strikes in Yemen against the al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula terrorist organization, Pentagon spokesman Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said.

Iraqi Forces Retake Mosul Airport, Inherent Resolve Commander Says

WASHINGTON — Iraqi security forces have taken back Mosul International Airport in Iraq to liberate western Mosul from control of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, said Army Lt. Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, Operation Inherent Resolve commander.

2nd BCT units move quickly for the upcoming battle for West Mosul

TACTICAL ASSEMBLY AREA AL AWJAH, IRAQ — Task Force Fury, 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division task organized their two companies of brigade advise and assist teams into patrol elements for a site reconnaissance of their next tactical assembly area on Feb. 16, 2017.

Korean, German ambassadors see Afghan Air Force progress

KABUL, Afghanistan — The German and Republic of Korea ambassadors to Afghanistan visited Train, Advise, Assist Command – Air here last week to assess the impact of their contributions to the Afghan Airforce. German Ambassador Walter Haßmann, and Republic of Korea Ambassador Chin Ki-Hoon were presented a mission brief and given a tour of the AAF aircraft platforms by TAAC-Air and Resolute Support leadership.

Fires Team brings coalition together for Operation Inherent Resolve

Baghdad, Iraq — The Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command's Fires Team continues to make an impact in Mosul from their office in Baghdad, Iraq. Their successes are the latest example supporting the global, unified effort of the multi-national Coalition working to defeat ISIL. "Our mission is to go about degrading ISIL across Iraq through lethal targeting in order to support the ISF maneuver plan," said British army Maj. Jamie Linsdell, targeting officer, CJFLCC-OIR.

Military working dog serves in Iraq on his second deployment

Baghdad, Iraq — "The capability they [Military Working Dogs] bring to the fight cannot be replicated by man or machine. By all measures of performance their yield outperforms any asset we have in our inventory." -- Gen. David Petraeus Rrobiek, a 7-year-old Belgian Malinois, was born to be a hero. He was bred and trained to serve and protect the people he works with. Currently, those people are members of the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command in Iraq.

U.S., Oman, France and U.K. Commence Exercise Khunjar Haad

MUSCAT, Oman — The U.S. Navy with the Royal Navy of Oman, the Royal Navy and French Marine Nationale kicked off the 22nd iteration of Exercise Khunjar Haad, an annual multilateral mine countermeasures (MCM) exercise in the Gulf of Oman, Feb. 19.

OIR Official: 'Conditions Have Been Set' for ISIS Defeat in Western Mosul

WASHINGTON — Iraqi forces are advancing into western Mosul and making steady gains in efforts to liberate the area from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, said Air Force Col. John Dorrian, Inherent Resolve spokesman.
