Romanian Military Police Detachment Provides Bagram Airfield Security

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan — Romanian and U.S. military police Soldiers have patrolled side-by-side for the last six months providing force protection assets, first responders for any and all emergencies, and enforcing the law, regulations, and standards on Bagram Airfield (BAF).

ISIL on Run in Eastern Mosul, Pentagon Spokesman Says

WASHINGTON — Iraqi security forces are finishing clearing operations in eastern Mosul while Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant fighters have ceased fighting and are on the run, Pentagon Press Operations Director Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said today.

The 389th Engineer Company (368th Engineer Battalion, 176th Engineer Brigade) waits for the start of an awards ceremony which will honor their engineer efforts. The unit built a new MEDVAC facility at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan. 389th Engineer Company Soldiers build new MEDEVAC facility

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan — The MEDEVAC facility at Bagram Air Field in northern Afghanistan has seen better days. Its shattered windows, leaning walls, and peeling paint serve as evidence of the building’s lengthy history.

Stratofortress flies strong, exceeds expectations after 50 years of service

SOUTHWEST ASIA — Early in the morning of Jan. 5, the 96th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron and the 96th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Unit launched their 201st sortie, breaking the record for the highest B-52 Stratofortress “sortie streak” during a flight supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

GHWB Carrier Strike Group to Depart for Deployment

NORFOLK, Va. (NNS) — Nearly 6,000 Sailors attached to the George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group (GHWBCSG) will depart Norfolk and Mayport, Florida, Jan. 21, for a regularly-scheduled deployment. Led by Commander, Carrier Strike Group 2, Rear Adm. Kenneth R. Whitesell, the GHWBCSG is comprised of the staff of CSG-2; USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77); the nine squadrons and staff of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8; Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 22 staff and guided-missile destroyers USS Laboon (DDG 58) and USS Truxtun (DDG 103); and Mayport-based guided missile cruisers USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) and USS Hue City (CG 66).

Air Force refuelers enable B-2 strike against Daesh in Libya

SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, IL, UNITED STATES — KC-135 Stratotanker and KC-10 Extender crews from five bases on three continents provided aerial refueling support during the B-2 bomber mission which struck two Daesh training camps in Libya Jan. 18, 2017.

EC-130s maintain constant presence in Afghanistan 15 years later

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, AFGHANISTAN — All around the dimly-lit tent are enduring symbols of a constant presence. A name scrawled across a wooden wall, a lengthy list of deployment dates written underneath, updated year after year. A library stacked with books and games to pass the time. A built-in couch labeled “Snooze Town.”

U.S. Airstrikes Kill 80 ISIL Fighters in Libya, Carter Says

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Ash Carter said U.S. precision airstrikes on two Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant training camps near Sirte, Libya, are estimated to have killed more than 80 enemy fighters.

5th EAMS keeps C-17s ready for fight

01.17.2017 — C-17s are used frequently in the U.S. Air Force Central Command area of responsibility to get everything from clothing to bombs to a variety of locations around the region. As a 386th Air Expeditionary Wing tenant unit, the 5th Expeditionary Air Mobility Squadron flies its Globemasters an average of 2,500 sorties a year from the wing’s flightline. These sorties are responsible for moving 180,000 personnel and 80,000 tons of cargo, said Capt. John Goodwin, 5th EAMS Aircraft Maintenance Unit officer in charge.

Combined Joint Operations Center-Baghdad brings Coalition together for Operation Inherent Resolve

BAGHDAD, IRAQ — The Combined Joint Operations Center -- Baghdad (CJOC-B) brings together Coalition members of the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command -- Operation Inherent Resolve, in an international partnership to assist the Iraqi Security Forces in the on-going effort to defeat the Islamic State of the Levant in Iraq. The CJOC-B, located on Union III, Baghdad, Iraq, is the control center where Iraqi and Coalition leadership come together in a single operations center. It joins collect military expertise of American, French, Spanish, Italian, British, Australian and Iraqi militaries under one roof to foster effective communication between each section's Coalition and their Iraqi counterparts.
