Dec. 23, 2017) The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Joe Dunford, right, introduces retired U.S. Army Capt. Florent Groberg, Medal of Honor recipient, and Command Sergeant Major John Troxell, the senior enlisted advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, during a USO-sponsored visit aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). For more than 75 years, the USO has provided a vital connection between service members, their families and the American people. The USO is a private, non-profit organization that seeks to strengthen America's military by keeping them connected to their family and nation. Theodore Roosevelt and its carrier strike group are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
