215th Corps improves CASEVAC process
U.S. Marine Capt. Robert Walters, left, an advisor with Task Force Southwest, and Afghan National Army Lt. Col. Mirzashah Sadaq, right, the air officer of the 215th Corps, pose for a photo at Camp Shorabak, Afghanistan, Aug. 5, 2017. On July 24, two Mi-17s completed a casualty evacuation in the Nawa district of Helmand province in support of Operation Maiwand Four. Afghan National Army soldiers with 215th Corps successfully planned and prepared for potential CASEVACs during the operation with assistance and support from U.S. Marine advisors assigned to Task Force Southwest. The Afghan forces extracted the wounded soldier from the battlefield within an hour of notification, which allowed for quicker medical care and saved the soldier’s life.
