USS Devastator Sailor Makes Critical Repair on USS Dextrous
MANAMA, Bahrain (May 9, 2017) Mineman 2nd Class Tyler Smith, a native of Munford, Ala. and assigned to the Avenger-class mine countermeasure ship USS Devastator (MCM 6), poses for a photo in front of Devastator’s sweep line. On April 23, Smith deployed to the Avenger-class mine countermeasure ship USS Dextrous (MCM 13) and repaired the ship’s swage, a thick metal clasp that secures the ship’s sweep wire and withstands up to 18,000 pounds of pressure.
