Joint Rescue Training

Counter-ISIS Campaign to Intensify, Mattis Says

WASHINGTON — The U.S.-led coalition will accelerate its campaign to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said during a joint news conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, with Defense Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen.

Century of combat: first fighters still flying for freedom

UNDISCLOSED LOCATION — On a cool September evening just as the sun began to set, 21 year-old pilot, 2nd Lt. Frank Luke, listened to deafening rushing of air as he soared toward Dun-sur-Meuse to shoot down German balloons, six miles behind enemy lines. Though heavily fortified, he carried on with a single thought on his mind: victory. Dancing his plane through a deluge of enemy flak, he shot down his first target; then another, and another.

Anniversary of airpower: Famous fighter squadron celebrates centennial while deployed

SOUTHWEST ASIA — The 27th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron is slated to celebrate 100 years of airpower while deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, May 8, 2017.

Army leaders have introduced a multi-domain battle concept, which will allow the Army to stretch its capabilities not only to land but also to air, sea, space and cyberspace domains. A key concept of multi-domain battle is "demand reduction," meaning reducing the need to supply the brigade combat team with fuel, ammunition, water, energy and other supplies through technological innovations. 'Demand reduction' critical to winning multi-domain warfare, says leader

USS Laboon Visits Bahrain

MANAMA, Bahrain -- The guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) wrapped up a port visit to Manama, Bahrain, April 25. The port visit allowed Laboon to conduct maintenance, repair and upkeep as well as experience local culture in Bahrain.
