Syria's Tabqa City Liberated, Key Development for Raqqa

WASHINGTON — Partnered forces in Syria have liberated the Syrian city of Tabqa, a key development in the eventual defeat of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria in Raqqa, Syria, the Pentagon's director of press operations said.

Commanding General visits troops, key leaders across Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Joseph Martin, the commanding general of Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command-Operation Inherent Resolve, the 1st Infantry Division, conducts battlefield circulations (BFCs) across Iraq to visit with Coalition service members and his Iraqi partners. "One hour of BFCs is worth ten hours of reports, briefings and e-mails," said Martin. "You see things with your own eyes. You get to interact with people. You get to influence people."

USS Devastator Sailor Makes Critical Repair on USS Dextrous

MANAMA, Bahrain — The U.S. Navy has 276 ships manned by the 322,390 active Sailors. The fleet includes 11 mine countermeasure ships (MCM), four of which are in Bahrain, each manned by approximately 90 Sailors. Of the 360 MCM Sailors in Bahrain, one was needed to make an urgent repair aboard USS Dextrous (MCM 13).

OIR Spokesman Reports Progress in Defeating ISIS in Syria, Iraq

WASHINGTON — Partnered forces in Syria have liberated most of the Syrian city of Tabqa, while Iraqi security forces are moving in on west Mosul on multiple axes, the spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve said.

U.S., Jordanian military legal professionals gain greater understanding through joint symposium

AMMAN, Jordan — U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force legal professionals from the U.S. Central Command area of operations teamed with 10 Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army military judges for a four-day symposium on operational law and military justice April 24-27, 2017, near Amman, Jordan.

Counter-ISIS Campaign to Intensify, Mattis Says

Century of combat: first fighters still flying for freedom

UNDISCLOSED LOCATION — On a cool September evening just as the sun began to set, 21 year-old pilot, 2nd Lt. Frank Luke, listened to deafening rushing of air as he soared toward Dun-sur-Meuse to shoot down German balloons, six miles behind enemy lines. Though heavily fortified, he carried on with a single thought on his mind: victory. Dancing his plane through a deluge of enemy flak, he shot down his first target; then another, and another.
