Afghan Women Get Better Medical Care Thanks to Coalition Investment

KABUL, Afghanistan — Army Gen. John W. Nicholson, Resolute Support and U.S. Forces -- Afghanistan commander, toured the Kabul Women's Hospital that has received new equipment. Nicholson indicated that security is not just military force; security also includes the rebuilding of a new Afghanistan. The projects are part of a whole-of-government approach supported by the Commander's Emergency Response Program and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Army Veteran Remembers Fallen Comrades in Iraq

WASHINGTON — On Memorial Day, Americans will remember U.S. service members who died while serving their country. Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Debra Kay Mooney said that on Memorial Day and every other day of the year, she remembers the fallen she served with in the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

US Naval Forces Central Command, Coalition Partners Complete International Maritime Exercise

MANAMA, Bahrain (NNS) — The International Maritime Exercise (IMX) 2017, led by U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, was held May 2-18, on Naval Support Activity Bahrain.

A U.S. Marine V-22 Osprey ascends the USS Bataan in Aqaba, Jordan, to begin a demo flight in support of Eager Lion 2017. Eager Lion is an annual U.S. Central Command exercise in Jordan designed to strengthen military-to-military relationships between the U.S., Jordan and other international partners. This year's iteration is comprised of about 7,200 military personnel from more than 20 nations that will respond to scenarios involving border security, command and control, cyber defense and battlespace management. 24th MEU brings Exercise Eager Lion 17 to a close

USS BATAAN, Red Sea — Marines and Sailors with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group will bring Exercise Eager Lion 17 to a close May 20, 2017. This exercise is one of several training iterations undertaken by Marines and Sailors during deployment in this region.

US Army Central inject experience at Eager Lion

JORDAN — Over a two-week period, U.S. Central Command service members and civilians, along with military forces from over 20 other nations, challenged multiple U.S. and Jordanian military organizations’ ability to respond to simulated tactical situations during exercise Eager Lion 2017.

KNMH repairs, upgrades near completion

KABUL, Afghanistan — Thirty days after an attack on patients and medical staff at Kabul National Medical Hospital, a majority of the reconstruction work is complete.

SecDef Meets With UAE’s Crown Prince

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Jim Mattis met at the White House with United Arab Emirates Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan to discuss the U.S.-UAE defense partnership, the Pentagon’s chief spokesperson said in a statement.

Afghan wounded warriors head to Invictus Games Toronto 2017

KABUL, Afghanistan — With unbreakable spirits on full display, 51 wounded Afghan warriors participated in the final team selection trials here for the Invictus Games Toronto 2017.
