Strength of Spirit: 4th Afghan Border Policemen lead their men no matter the cost

NAWA DISTRICT, AFGHANISTAN — “Right now the people feel free. We defeated the Taliban and we retook the Nawa District,” said Lt. Col. Mohammad Juma, the 1st Brigade Commander, 4th Afghan Border Police. “The people are very happy to live in a safe place.”

OIR Spokesman: No Safe Havens Left for ISIS in Syria or Iraq

WASHINGTON — With 50 percent of Raqqa, Syria, now under the control of Syrian Defense Forces and holding forces in place in Mosul, Iraq, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria has no safe haven left in either country, an Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman said.

American, Coalition Airmen mark three years of lethal airpower against ISIS

AL UDEID AIR BASE, Qatar — In early 2014, people across the globe were horrified by images of a menacing force sweeping across the Middle East, overwhelming superior armies and brutalizing those unfortunate enough to fall beneath its black shadow of terror. On Third Anniversary of ISIS Fight, 5 Million are Free from Terrorist Army

WASHINGTON — Pentagon spokesman Navy Capt. Jeff Davis marked the third anniversary of the U.S.-led coalition air campaign against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, during which millions of people have been freed from ISIS control.

The Flight Deck Choreographers

ARABIAN SEA — Flight deck operations on an aircraft carrier have been compared to a ballet. Anyone who is afforded the opportunity to observe flight deck operations on an aircraft carrier will instantly notice the assortment of colors worn by the personnel to specify their job. After watching how the flight deck operates for a while, it is clear, one jersey color is in charge of the big dance; yellow.

Nimitz Carrier Strike Group Begins Support of Operation Inherent Resolve

ARABIAN GULF (NNS) -- The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group (CSG) is carrying out strike sorties from the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR). The first aircraft launched from USS Nimitz (CVN 68) was an F/A-18E Super Hornet assigned to the "Argonauts" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147. Accompanying Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 squadrons, part of that first flight include the "Black Knights" of VFA-154, the "Blue Diamonds" of VFA-146, the "Death Rattlers" of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 323, and the "Bluetails" of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 121.

Former Army Medic Receives Medal of Honor for Vietnam War Heroism

WASHINGTON, July 31, 2017 — President Donald J. Trump awarded the Medal of Honor to former Army Spc. 5 James McCloughan during a White House ceremony today for heroism during the Vietnam War almost a half century ago.

Command Sgt. Major Fidel Zamora, the senior enlisted advisor for the Arizona Army National Guard and Command Sgt. Major Saul Garcia, the command sergeant major for the 98th Aviation Troop Command, hold the Arizona state flag with delegates from Kazakhstan during a visit to exchange aviation maintenance practices and non-commissioned officer development July 25. The visit came within weeks of the U.S. government’s formal renewal of its partnership with Kazakhstan, extending the 24-year-old legacy of cooperation for five more years. (Ariz. Arizona, Kazakh State Partnership renewed for 5 more years

PHOENIX – The Arizona National Guard hosted a delegation of military officer and enlisted personnel from the Kazakh Ministry of Defense during a State Partnership Program-sponsored visit Jul. 19 – 26. The visit came within weeks of the U.S. government’s formal renewal of its partnership with Kazakhstan, extending the 24-year-old legacy of cooperation for five more years.
