USCENTCOM commander addresses maritime security

MANAMA, BAHRAIN — U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr., commander, U.S. Central Command, addressed maritime security in the Middle East at the 15th Regional Security Summit of the IISS Manama Dialogue, Nov. 23, 2019.

An F/A-18F Super Hornet attached to the "Jolly Rogers" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 103 launches from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points. With Abraham Lincoln as the flagship, deployed strike group assets include staffs, ships and aircraft of Carrier Strike Group 12 (CSG 12), Destroyer Squadron 2 (DESRON 2), USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) and Carrier Air Wing 7 (CVW 7). Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group supports Operation Inherent Resolve

ARABIAN GULF — The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group (ABECSG) began air operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), Nov. 22.

Milley Begins Fact-Finding Trip to Middle East, Central Asia

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff arrived at Amman, Jordan today to begin a trip to the Middle East and Central Asia.

Iraqi Troops take charge of logistics

TAJI, IRAQ — Iraqi soldiers took charge of one of the largest divestments of vehicle repair parts while working with American counterparts at the Taji National Depot last month. Task Force (TF) Lincoln Divestment, comprised of soldiers from the Iraq Army (IA) Transportation Brigade and the U.S. Army’s 108th Sustainment Brigade, transferred 1,925 vehicle repair parts purchased through the Counter-ISIS Train & Equip Fund (CTEF) program.

Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group Transits the Strait of Hormuz

ARABIAN GULF – The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group (ABECSG) completed a scheduled transit through the Strait of Hormuz into the Arabian Gulf, Nov. 19.

Army Maritime Service provides logistical support to Operation Spartan Shield

KUWAIT NAVAL BASE, Kuwait — U.S. Army Soldiers and Vessels contribute to maintaining regional security and stability in Kuwait.

IMX 19 Concludes in U.S. 5th Fleet Area of Operations

International Maritime Exercise 2019 (IMX 19), a multinational exercise featuring assets and personnel from more than 50 partner nations and seven international organizations, concluded Nov. 14.

Ready, set, move out!

JORDAN — Soldiers train by doing. Soldiers of Bravo Company, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division (3/4 ABCT), Task Force Spartan and the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), 81st Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) Battalion trained for four days and two nights at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia.

International force comes together for mine countermeasures training as part of IMX

MANAMA, Bahrain — At any one time, thousands of commercial and military vessels occupy the tense waters and strategic choke points spanning from the Suez Canal to the Bab-al-Mandeb, through the Strait of Hormuz and into the North Arabian Gulf. For these mariners, what is unseen is often as dangerous as what is seen.
