Texas guard engineer mission making history

CAMP BUERHING, Kuwait — Approximately 135 Soldiers of the 176th Engineer Brigade, Texas Army National Guard continue to provide command and control of more than 1,600 Active Duty, National Guard and Army Reserve engineer forces across the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility while deployed.

Afghan forces prepare for spring campaign

ISIL Fighters Trapped in Western Mosul, Pentagon Spokesman Says

WASHINGTON — As Iraqi security forces continue the push to liberate Mosul, terrorists with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant find themselves trapped in the city's west, a Pentagon spokesman said today.

Trump: America Will Stand With Those Who Stand for Freedom

WASHINGTON — President Donald J. Trump expressed his and the nation's gratitude to service members at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., and told them that the United States will stand with those who stand in the defense of freedom.

Until Dawn: The Battle of Boz Qandahari

FORT CARSON, CO — Surrounded, outnumbered, but never defeated… Green Berets fight through overwhelming odds to accomplish the mission and save the lives of their brothers. FORT CARSON, Colo. – After landing in a flooded field outside Boz Qandahari Village, Kunduz Province, Afghanistan on the night of Nov. 2, 2016 and as they trudged a mile toward their target through mud up to their waists, Army Sgt. 1st Class Morrison, the senior medical sergeant with Operational Detachment-Alpha (ODA) 0224, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), remembered thinking, “Alright, yeah, that’s how it’s going to be tonight.”

U-2 continues through generations, makes Air Force history breaking 30,000-hour barrier in fight against ISIS

SOUTHWEST ASIA — For the first time in U.S. Air Force history an expeditionary U-2 serving in the U.S. Air Forces Central Command has reached 30,000 hours of flight time while supporting theatre operation here.

Iraqi Forces Liberate 60 Percent of Mosul From ISIL Fighters

WASHINGTON — The U.S.-led coalition to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant has liberated about 60 percent of ISIL-held territory in Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, an Inherent Resolve spokesman told reporters.

Maintainers ‘push’ AWACS to new levels in fight against ISIS

Exercise Unified Trident brings four nations together to maintain readiness

MANAMA, Bahrain — Naval forces from four allied nations engage in Exercise Unified Trident starting Jan. 31. Unified Trident is a multilateral exercise with the Royal Navy, Royal Australian Navy, French Marine Nationale, and the U.S. Navy that will span the international waters of the Arabian Gulf, incorporate all forms of maritime operations, reinforce relationships with partners and allies, maintain readiness and improve cooperation to ensure the free flow of commerce.
