Walking the Innovation Talk at the Rock

Senior Master Sgt. Christopher Holman, 386th Expeditionary Wing Civil Engineering Squadron operations superintendent (right) and Master Sgt. Trevor Wilkinson, 386th ECES facilities superintendent (left) wrapped up their six-month deployments by moving forward the timeline for increased night-time flying capabilities at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait. The two Airmen conducted in-depth research and data collection in order to demonstrate the viability of purchasing solar runway lights as a timely and inexpensive option. As the project moves forward, it also has the potential to increase the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing's Agile Combat Employment (ACE) Capabilities.

F-35 crews conquer new territory in CENTCOM AOR

The 421st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron did something in early July which had never been done before by an F-35A Lightning II unit - go into alert status.The squadron performed alert status exercises to provide the necessary data points to mission planners with the U.S. Air Force Central Command Air Operations Center.“This hasn’t been done before

Gen. Charles Q. Brown nominated to be next Air Force Chief of Staff

If confirmed by the Senate, Gen. Charles Q. Brown would assume one of the two highest positions in the Air Force from Gen. David L. Goldfein, who is retiring June 30 after four years as Chief of Staff. Brown would be the first African-American to serve as a service chief.

Beneath the Skies: Aircraft Maintainers

One of the largest support structures here at the 332d Air Expeditionary Wing can be broadly defined as aircraft maintainers. This not only includes those individuals who perform pre-flight, thru-flight (where an aircraft returns from a mission then embarks on another mission within a couple hours) and post-flight safety and function checks, but also several “back shops” which specialize in a certain aspect of the aircraft’s function such as weapons, guidance or propulsion systems.
