'The Long Road Home' to healing: New miniseries focuses on Soldiers' experiences in Iraq

FORT MEADE, Md. — While on the set of an upcoming TV show revolving around a deadly ambush that he and other 1st Cavalry Division Soldiers endured in Iraq, Eric Bourquin managed to get the emotional healing he had sought for years.

Zeravani, a specialized branch of the Peshmerga soldiers, conduct a tactical withdrawal during a patrol training exercise at Bnaslawa, Iraq, Aug. 10, 2016. The exercise allowed trainers to assess the Zeravani soldiers’ understanding of squad patrol training from day prior. The building partner capacity mission aims to increase the security capacity of local forces fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

U.S.-led Coalition’s Support to Continue After Raqqa’s Liberation, Official Says

WASHINGTON — Despite its defeat in Raqqa, Syria, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria still exists, and the U.S.-led coalition will not back off from supporting the Syrian Democratic Forces, an Operation Inherent Resolve task force commander said.

Mattis: Military Force Authorizations Remain Sound

WASHINGTON — The 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force remain sound bases for ongoing U.S. military operations against the mutating threat of terrorism aimed at innocents around the globe, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said.

Cripwell assumes responsibility as deputy commander; Castellano bids farewell

US, UK Complete Mine Identification and Exploitation Exercise 2017

ARABIAN GULF -- The exercise allowed for U.S. and U.K. forces to share knowledge of mine countermeasures (MCM) capabilities in searching, identifying and neutralizing mines that could threaten the freedom of navigation and free flow of commerce. “This exercise provides a unique opportunity for both navies to exchange knowledge and expertise on expeditionary mine countermeasures capabilities,” said Lt. Travis Miller, officer in charge of post mission analysis for Task Group 56.1. “Militaries must work together when a crisis emerges, it is important for partner nations to build strong relationships.”
