New Commander Opens IMSC Command Center

MANAMA, Bahrain — International partners gathered to celebrate the opening of Coalition Task Force (CTF) Sentinel’s new command center at Naval Support Activity, Bahrain Nov. 7. “Today, we reach two significant milestones in the standing up of the CTF Sentinel headquarters under the International Maritime Security Construct and the introduction of the CTF’s first appointed commander, Rear Adm. Alvin Holsey,” said Vice Adm. Jim Malloy, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces.

The Royal Navy of Oman Al Shamikh and the Pakistan Navy Ship Shamsheer transit in formation beside the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60) as part of International Maritime Exercise 2019 (IMX 19). The exercise is a multinational engagement involving partners and allies from around the world designed to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experiences across the full spectrum of defensive maritime operations. USS Normandy Conducts International Boarding Training

Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade transfers authority to 1st Armored Division

BAGRAM, AFGHANISTAN — Authority for the NATO Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade was transferred from 1st Infantry Division to 1st Armored Division at a ceremony on Bagram Airfield Nov. 1, 2019.

NCAGS provides critical support to maritime security

MANAMA, BAHRAIN — The U.S. Navy has surged critical support to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command to provide expanded interface between military and merchant shipping as part of the International Maritime Security Construct (IMSC).

Snipers aim to sharpen shooting, teaching skills

JORDAN — The art of sniping is more than just proper cover, concealment and sight alignment; it demands vigilant situational awareness, flawless timing and solid arithmetic skills.

Liquid Logisticians Conduct Mission in Middle East

ERBIL, IRAQ — Petroleum supply specialists, categorized as military occupational specialty (MOS) 92F, oversee the Army's use of petroleum - but their duties far exceed those of gas station clerks.

U.S. Marines embark merchant vessel to provide security during Strait of Hormuz transit

STRAIT OF HORMUZ — Marines and Sailors deployed with Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team, Central Command (FASTCENT) Company, assigned to Naval Amphibious Force, Task Force 51/5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade (TF 51/5th MEB), embarked on a Military Sealift Command time chartered vessel in the Arabian Gulf to provide security during a Strait of Hormuz transit Oct. 21, 2019.

Central Command Chief gives details on Baghdadi raid

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Marine Corps Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie briefed Pentagon reporters today on the Oct. 26 raid in northwestern Syria that resulted in Baghdadi's death. Pentagon officials also released videos of the raid. McKenzie said planning for the raid began much earlier. He said Baghdadi was a priority target for Centcom, and as a result, was the subject of an intense effort to bring him to justice.
