RSAF, USAF conduct post-blast training exercise

Airmen from the 378th Air Expeditionary Wing trained alongside service members from the Royal Saudi Air Force in a post-blast training exercise, Feb. 10, 2022. Replicating the scenario of an improvised explosive device detonation, specialized units from the 378th AEW and the RSAF came together to execute their post-blast investigative responses.

USS Jason Dunham Visits Egypt

Guided-missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) completed a three-day port visit to Berenice, Egypt, Feb. 7. Crewmembers visited Egypt’s newest naval base on the Red Sea, reflecting U.S. 5th Fleet’s strong relationship with the Egyptian Navy.

McKenzie Says ISIS Leader Who Died During U.S. Raid Was 'Evil'

The ISIS leader who died during a U.S. Special Operations long-range helicopter raid on a mission to capture him in northwest Syria was "every bit as evil and committed to attacks on the United States and its partners as was his predecessor [Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi]," said Marine Corps Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr., commander of U.S. Central Command.

Advise, assist, enable key to new OIR campaign

With the transition from a combat role in Iraq complete in early December 2021, Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve has issued a new Campaign Plan that will chart the course for the future of the command. While the full plan is classified according to policies enacted by the 77-member Coalition, highlights from the plan are that the Coalition continues its core mandate to maintain the enduring defeat of Daesh; by, with, and through partner forces that is made possible by Coalition advice, assistance, and enablement.

U.S. Coast Guard Cutters Visit Lebanon for Bilateral Exchanges

Two U.S. Coast Guard fast response cutters arrived in Beirut, Lebanon, on Jan. 31, for a scheduled port visit that will include several military-to-military exchanges with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF). USCGC Emlen Tunnel (WPC 1145) and USCGC Glen Harris (WPC 1144) arrived in Beirut after a stop last week in Alexandria, Egypt. The vessels are two of the Coast Guard’s newest fast response cutters slated for forward-deployment to Bahrain where U.S. 5th Fleet is headquartered.
