Cybersecurity: 'Remain vigilant, be accountable, stand ready' Army major general says

WASHINGTON -- The theme for Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October will be "Remain vigilant, be accountable, stand ready," said Maj. Gen. Garrett Yee. Yee, the Army's acting deputy chief information officer, G-6, spoke at the Defense Strategies Institute-sponsored "Cyber Operations for National Defense Symposium" here, Tuesday.

FAST Marines train for contingencies in Egypt

CAIRO, Egypt — Around the globe, members of the Department of State serve Americans working and living abroad, providing critical administrative and emergency capabilities in nearly 300 host nations. While they are committed to serving U.S. citizens, U.S. Marines are committed to serving those members of the U.S. Embassies abroad. Sustained readiness is the name-of-the-game for Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team – Central Command, who stand ready to protect U.S. interests and consulates in the Middle East at a moment’s notice.

Task Force 55 Conducts GUNNEX

ARABIAN GULF -- Ships from Task Force (TF) 55 conducted a gunnery exercise (GUNNEX) in the Arabian Gulf, Sept. 19. Participants included guided-missile destroyer USS The Sullivans (DDG 68) and coastal patrol ships USS Hurricane (PC 3), USS Monsoon (PC 4), USS Sirocco (PC 6) and USS Firebolt (PC 10).

Defense Intel Chief puts great power competition in context

WASHINGTON — People told the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency that in his speech to the Center for Strategic and International Studies he should just say “Great power competition, artificial intelligence” and then drop the mic and walk off.

Five nations participate in exercise Regional Cooperation 18

Coalition effort aims at stability in Iraq, Syria
