Carter: DoD intensifies ISIL fight, urges more international support

The Defense Department is quickly adapting to fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and is urging the international community to step up the pace of its contributions to the fight, Defense Secretary Ash Carter said today.

New Sentry completes first combat sortie in Southwest Asia

The 380th Air Expeditionary Wing’s newest weapon system, the E-3G Sentry airborne warning and control system aircraft, completed its first active combat mission from an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, Nov. 21, 2015.

Resolute Support dining facility named for fallen sergeant major

Operation Inherent Resolve airstrikes proving effective in Iraq, Syria

A coalition air campaign and the enabling of indigenous ground forces has helped push the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) back in Iraq and Syria, a U.S. Central Command spokesman said here today.

An AV-8B Harrier assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 162 (Reinforced), 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (26th MEU), launches from the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) to conduct their first missions over Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Iraqi army ‘glad to see’ 82nd Airborne

In fighting over the past 24 hours, Iraqi Kurdish forces supported by coalition advisors and a coalition air campaign are working to cut the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's main communication line between Raqqa and Mosul, the Pentagon press secretary said today.
