On 03-04 February, Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and met with Emirati National Security Advisor Sheik Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Issa Al Mazrouei.
The leaders discussed the current security challenges in the region, efforts to mitigate the risks, and their shared interest in defense innovation to include artificial intelligence and technology. They also discussed strengthening military-to-military ties between the two countries, such as continued joint exercises to improve interoperability and readiness, as well as efforts to secure shared economic prosperity.
Gen. Kurilla, Sheik Tahnoun, Lt. Gen. Al Mazrouei agreed to continue deepening the U.S. security partnership and cooperation with UAE, which is recognized as one of only two Major Defense Partners of the United States.
