Readout from Gen. McKenzie’s Visit to Egypt, Sept. 11th, 2021

EGYPT  –  

U.S. Central Command’s Gen. Frank McKenzie met U.S. and Egyptian military forces participating in Exercise Bright Star 2021 at Mohamed Naguib Military Base.
This focus has been on regional security and cooperation and promoting interoperability in irregular warfare scenarios.


“Since the first Bright Star was held in 1980, the exercise has carried a proud and historic tradition of partners working together toward common objectives,” McKenzie
said. “The concepts tested in exercises like this one have led to successes against terrorism and violent extremism across the region.”


McKenzie last visited senior Egyptian defense leaders in Cairo in June 2021.
