U.S. Central Command Commander Gen. Frank McKenzie met with Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim, Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohamad Al-Attiyah in Doha today.
The leaders discussed each nation’s security concerns, which includes a diplomatic resolution to the war in Yemen, Afghan-Taliban peace negotiations, and the enduring defeat of ISIS.
The senior leaders also agreed to maintain the momentum of the U.S.-Qatar theater security cooperation events such as Exercise Invincible Sentry, and unit-level training with the U.S. Air Force.
“The United States and Qatar will continue to strengthen our partnership,” McKenzie said. “We appreciate Qatar’s sustained support to regional security and investments toward a more stable and peaceful region.”
