U.S. Central Command commander Gen. Frank McKenzie met with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi & Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant Gen. Mohamed Farid Hegazy today.
The leaders discussed shared security concerns and agreed that the strategic nature of the U.S.-Egypt defense relationship makes it critical for regional security and stability.
“It was a pleasure to meet with President al-Sisi and senior military leaders in Cairo to identify ways to strengthen U.S.-Egyptian relations,” McKenzie said. “Our defense relationship has endured – and will continue – for the benefit of both our great nations.”
“General McKenzie’s visit reinforces the enduring U.S.-Egypt strategic partnership in which, together, we combat terrorism, protect trade, and ensure regional security,” noted U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Jonathan R. Cohen.
During the visit, McKenzie also met with the Ambassador and other members of the U.S. embassy staff.
