MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla (October 18, 2011) — The Commander of U.S. Central Command Gen. James Mattis departed Oman yesterday after visiting with senior Omani military and security officials as part of a regularly scheduled visit with partner nations in the region.
Mattis visited with Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), and other senior defense officials to gain their appreciation of regional issues and to discuss issues of security cooperation.
The visit is the third visit that Mattis has made to the country since taking command of CENTCOM just over a year ago.
