MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (September, 20, 2011) — U.S. Central Command Commander, Gen. James Mattis visited and met with Lt. Gen. Meshal Mohammad al Zaben, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces.
Mattis expressed his appreciation for Jordan’s vital contributions to international efforts, including support to the National Transitional Council in Libya and its assistance to peacekeeping throughout the world.
“Jordan remains a respected voice in the region and the world. Particularly during this tumultuous time, I value Jordan’s perspective,” said Mattis. “I have the utmost respect for the courage and capability of their armed forces and the vision of their leadership.”
