II MEF Marines slated to deploy to Helmand Province Spring 2017

At the request of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and U.S. Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A), approximately 300 Marines will deploy to Helmand Province Afghanistan in Spring 2017 in support of the NATO-led Resolute Support mission. The last II MEF Marines to deploy to Helmand Province, Afghanistan returned in 2014.

Iraqi air force drops letters on Mosul

On Oct 17, 2016, the day the operation to liberate Mosul began, The Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), an international not-for-profit organization that works with media and civil society activists to promote positive change in conflict zones and areas of turmoil around the world, launched a digital campaign tagged #LettersToMosul.
