The Kingdom of Bahrain celebrates Bahraini Women's Day each Dec. 1 to commemorate the achievements and creative contribution made by women to the development and progress of Bahrain. It highlights the importance and important role played by women in public life. Public Works Department (PWD), Naval Support Activity Bahrain, is joining this celebration by specifically highlighting the contributions of six Bahraini women-members of their team.
Cmdr. Adam Kushner, Public Works Officer, organized an event and praised each of them for their outstanding performance and achievements within the department.
"Today our host nation is recognizing the contributions of Bahraini women in the workforce. PWD Bahrain has six talented, professional Bahraini women who provide NAVFAC with indispensable management, planning, environmental and engineering expertise,’ Kushner said. “It is an honor for me to take a moment to thank them for their service to our mission and recognize their success.”
The theme for Bahrain Women’s Day 2021 is “Bahraini Women in the National Development… a March of Progress in a Dedicated Nation”.
According to the Bahrain News Agency, the theme reflects the deep-rooted presence of Bahraini women in the nation-building process, and its gradual progress hand-in-hand with the development of the modern civil state in Bahrain, based on justice and equality in rights among the citizens, men and women.
The first Bahraini Women’s Day celebration was in 2008, along with the National and Accession days, marking 80 years since the start of formal education for women in the Kingdom.
Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Europe, Africa, Central, Public Works Department, Naval Support Activity Bahrain enables mission support to personnel and operational assets within the Navy Central Command/5th FLEET Area of Responsibility through deliberate planning and execution of installation facility support requirements.
