French Minister of Defense, Florence Parly, paid tribute to the international coalition, the French forces of Operation Chammal, and the Syrian Democratic Forces, for the collective action that led to their success in the demise of ISIS territory. Nevertheless, she wished to recall that the situation on the ground remained precarious and that it required the continuation of the fight against terrorism.

"It will be necessary to ensure that the SDF will be preserved, while the coalition, and in particular the Americans, adapts their deployment, on the ground.

To the soldiers of the international coalition who took part in this battle, and in particularly to the French Chammal airmen, soldiers and sailors: your commitment and professionalism, actively contributed to this success against Daesh for which all the French and the world were waiting.

The end of Daesh's territory is only one step. We must recreate the conditions for the return of the rule of law, security and development in the region and permanently cut the roots of terrorism."
