Knock, knock: Iraqi commandos raid home of ISIS-affiliated terrorist

By CJTF-OIR Public Affairs

SOUTHWEST ASIA – Dec. 19, 2019, Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service, partnered with the Coalition, detained Nasir Qahtan Al-Ubayd, a Daesh affiliate responsible for terrorist activities in Anbar Province, Iraq.

An arrest warrant was issued after Al-Ubayd was identified as the leader of the Jaysh Al Kifah extremist group. Significant items recovered from the Al-Ubayd residence were: Military uniforms with body armor, weapons and magazines, multiple cell phones, and computer equipment.  The detention is expected to degrade future attacks.

“The Coalition continues to work closely with the ISF, at the invitation of the Government of Iraq, to protect the Iraqi people and our forces from ISIS-affiliated terrorists looking to disrupt regional security,” said Col. Myles B. Caggins III, Coalition military spokesman.
