U.S. Soldiers, with the 642nd Engineer Support Company, 41st Engineer Battalion, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, reinforce the protective barrier with concertina wire obstacles near El Paso, Texas, July 18, 2025. Fortifications for the southern border’s barrier both deter and inhibit illegal crossing into the United States. Joint Task Force-Southern Border executes full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
