Readout From Gen. Frank McKenzie’s Meeting With Lebanon’s Armed Forces Chief

U.S. Central Command’s Gen. Frank McKenzie met with Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Gen. Joseph Aoun in Tampa today.

The leaders discussed Lebanon’s current economic challenges and ways to strengthen security cooperation between the two nations.

“Thanks to Gen. Aoun’s leadership, the military continue to offer the Lebanese people a steadying hand under extremely challenging economic
conditions,” McKenzie said. “We recognize the Lebanese Armed Forces as the sole expression of military power in Lebanon and are committed to supporting
them as much as possible.”

The visiting delegation included U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy C. Shea, Defense Attaché to Lebanon U.S. Army Col. Robert Meine and other members of
the U.S. embassy staff.
