MacDill AFB, Fla. (Sept. 7, 2008) — Lt. Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, Acting Commander U.S. Central Command, directed Sunday that based on the recommendation of GEN McKiernan, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) will appoint a senior US Military officer to review the investigation into the combined Afghan National Army (ANA) and U.S. Forces operation in the vicinity of Azizabad, Shindand District, Herat Provence, Afghanistan on 22 August.
This review will consider new information that has become available since the completion of the initial investigation.
As this review is ongoing, further information will be released once the review is completed.
