TAMPA, Fla.(September 20, 2015) — The United States and Tajikistan will host Exercise Regional Cooperation 2015 in Tajikistan in September, 2015. Regional Cooperation is United States Central Command’s only multilateral exercise program in Central Asia. The exercise aims to promote cooperation and joint military capabilities among U.S, Central and South Asian states, and other participating nations.
This year’s exercise will involve over 400 military participants from Tajikistan, the United States, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Mongolia. The exercise scenario will focus on peacekeeping and stability operations in a fictional country, and will incorporate elements of border security including counterterrorism.
The exercise will involve a computer-based component in Dushanbe and, for the first time, a field exchange component at a Ministry of Defense training area. The field portion will involve approximately 120 soldiers from Tajikistan and the United States conducting a series of scenario-based tasks in a realistic field environment.
