ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, chief of Army Staff, Pakistani Army, and Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, commander of the International Security Assistance Force, recently met as part of the continuing effort to strengthen cooperation and regional stability.
This was Dunford’s second visit to Pakistan as the commander of ISAF. During the most recent session, the two leaders discussed a variety of issues related to strengthening cooperation and pressuring militants who threaten security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
“[This] meeting was part of an ongoing dialogue to address security challenges of mutual concern. Communication and cooperation between ISAF, Pakistan, and Afghanistan is critical for regional stability,” said Dunford.
Dunford also congratulated Kayani and the Pakistani security forces for their contributions to the successful completion of national elections May 11.
