USCENTCOM hosts 16th Coalition International Night

By Tom Gagnier U.S. Central Command Public Affairs

The U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) Coalition hosted their 16th annual Coalition International Night in Hangar 5 at MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), Dec. 5, 2019.

International Night started in December 2004 as a winter holiday party for the Coalition members and families. This year, members of 37 coalition countries displayed native customs and offered a taste of their traditional cuisines to over 1,700 guests.

With representatives from countries around the globe, many Coalition members reside off-base and enjoy support from the local Tampa Bay community.

“This annual event provides representatives from each Coalition nation the opportunity to express gratitude for the support and hospitality they receive from USCENTCOM, MacDill Air Force Base, and local community," said Royal Danish Air Force Brig. Gen. Henrik Larsen, USCENTCOM’s Coalition Chairman. “This event brings a large portion of the world under one roof, giving visitors the opportunity to travel around the globe in a couple of hours to learn more about different cultures.”

The USCENTCOM Coalition at MacDill AFB formed in 2001 following the 9/11 attacks, and remains one of the largest military coalitions in U.S. history.
