Gerrit Olsen, a machine gunner assigned to Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), scans for nearby vessels while transiting the Strait of Hormuz aboard the amphibious transport dock USS Portland (LPD 27), Oct. 4.
