America participates in RAS with USNS Washington Chambers
170911-N-GC965-167 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 11, 2017) Sailors and Marines assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) organize pallets of supplies on the ship’s flight deck during a replenishment-at-sea with the dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11). America is the flagship for the America Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
