Iraqi Security Forces Kill Senior Daesh Leaders in Salah ad Din

By CJTF-OIR Public Affairs

BAGHDAD –

Iraqi Security Forces and Iraqi Counter Terrorism Services, supported by Coalition forces, conducted multiple strikes against Daesh targets on Khanukah Mountain in Salah ad Din Province, Oct. 30, 2018, resulting in the death of 5 senior Daesh leaders and more than 30 other militants.

The Daesh leaders killed in the strike were responsible for overseeing operations conducted within Salah ad Din, Kirkuk, Ninewah and northern Anbar provinces.

Their followers helped coordinate vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attacks in Sharqat and Qayarrah that injured civilians, in addition to numerous attacks targeting ISF, Iraqi civilians and infrastructure within Salah ah Din and Kirkuk provinces.

The Coalition takes extraordinary measures to avoid civilian casualties, and use stringent processes to minimize the risk to civilians.

The Coalition is committed to working by, with and through Iraqi Security Forces to achieve the enduring defeat of Daesh and helping to set the conditions for stabilization operations in Iraq and Syria.
