Mohammad Nadir (center) poses with a group of Marines during a base construction project for the Afghan police in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Nadir served as an interpreter for the International Security Assistance Force for nearly three years before applying for a Special Immigrant Visa that would allow him to immigrate to the U.S. After working closely with the Marines, Nadir decided he wanted to follow suit and enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 2017 as an 0311 infantryman.
