Building on last year’s success, the Center’s 2nd Annual Conference aims to leverage national and international expertise in a collaborative effort to identify key issues, trends, and assess progress and challenges in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The conference is designed to foster dialogue and debate and discuss opportunities and options for the way forward.

This conference will further develop recommendations and consolidate them into a coordinated product for distribution to U.S. and Coalition leaders in order to support continued development of the way forward in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This conference will create an opportunity to generate new ideas. Thus, we are inviting a diverse group of government, academic and nongovernment experts who will offer a variety of perspectives grounded in recent field research or experience in the region. Based on the attached agenda, panelists will briefly present highlights of relevant research or recent experience, and moderators will facilitate discussion of the major issues pertaining to each segment’s topic.

A no-host social reception will be held on Monday 15 August. Also, on the evening of 16 August there will be a keynote address followed by a coat & tie dinner at the host hotel (TBD).
