Commander of U.S. Central Command visits Kyrgyz Republic

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (April 2, 2012) — General James Mattis, commander of U.S. Central Command, visited the Kyrgyz Republic as part of a long planned visit to the region, including meetings in Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.  Gen. Mattis met with Kyrgyz officials to exchange views on regional issues and reaffirmed Central Command’s intention to continue cooperation with the Kyrgyz government on issues of common concern in the future.
