General John R. Allen Assumes Command of ISAF

KABUL, Afghanistan (July 18, 2011) — U.S. Marine Corps Gen. John R. Allen assumed command of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) from U.S. Army Gen. David H. Petraeus at a change of command ceremony today, attended by senior Afghan and NATO officials, including German Army Gen. Wolf Langheld, Commander, Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum; Adm. Mike Mullen, U.S. Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff; and Marine Corps Gen. James N. Mattis, Commander, U.S. Central Command.

ISLAMABAD (July 13, 2011) — U.S. Central Command Commander Gen. James Mattis visited Pakistan as part of his routine of visiting and consulting with senior Pakistani military and security officials.

June 30 marks two-year point for U.S. soldier in captivity

KABUL, Afghanistan (June 30) – Today marks two years that Sergeant Bowe W. Bergdahl has been in captivity. Sgt. Bergdahl, from Hailey, Idaho, was discovered missing during his unit’s roll-call in Afghanistan on June 30, 2009.

ISAF joins President Karzai in condemning insurgent attack

KABUL, Afghanistan (June 29) — The International Security Assistance Force joins President Karzai and the Ministry of the Interior in condemning the attack on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul last night. ISAF also commends the rapid response by Afghan security forces who cleared the building and secured the situation.

Combined Force Captures Taliban Leader in Paktika
