U.S. Central Command commander visits Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Nov. 13, 2010) — U.S. Central Command Commander Gen. James Mattis was in Pakistan yesterday to consult with Pakistan's military leadership.

During his visit, Gen. Mattis met with Chief of the Army Staff, Gen. Ashfaq Kayani, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Wynne, and Secretary of Defense, Lt. Gen. (R) Syed Athar Ali. They discussed the ongoing flood relief operations and exchanged views on regional security issues, including the coalition effort in Afghanistan.

Gen. Mattis also met with the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter, and embassy staff.
