Mission Statement: CJIATF 435 conducts detainee operations in the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan by providing secure and humane care, custody, and control of the enemy to prevent their return to the battlefield.  On order, CJIATF 435 transfers elements of detainee operations to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

CJIATF 435 is commanded by U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Keith M. Huber.  U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Balan Ayyar is the Deputy Commanding General.

The Combined Joint Interagency Task Force includes U.S. service members from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force, plus civilians and coalition members. CJIATF 435 partners with numerous Afghan ministries and also members from the following agencies: U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of Justice (including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the U.S. Marshals Service), the U.S. Agency for International Development, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command (IJC), and the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.

o       Providing Support to the Afghan Justice Sector
o       Transition to Afghan Administrative Detention

 

CJIATF 435 continues to provide support and assistance to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA).  The desired end state of these cooperative endeavors is self-sustaining Afghan national detention facilities and rule of law institutions compliant with Afghan and international law."
